KoriaVault

State of the Vault

Koria Vault is in development and is played in the open. This page is the honest list: what works today, what is being built, and what is still only written down.

There are no dates on this page and there will not be. Order is a plan; a date is a debt. What is here is accurate as of the last time it was edited, and the Dispatches carry the working notes behind most of it.

Where each system stands

SystemStateNote
The holding & the groundLiveTerrain generates from its own coordinate. The map has no edge — ground is found, never stored.
TimberLiveWoodcutter to sawpit to store. The first chain, and the one the others are shaped like.
StoneLiveQuarried, hauled, and consumed by every serious building.
FoodLiveField to mill to bakery. Rot is real and distance costs you.
IronLiveOre, charcoal, bloomery, smith. Four buildings and no special-case code.
StaffingLiveYou put villagers into buildings by hand. A workshop with nobody in it says so.
Construction & upgradesLiveA build cost is an amount of WORK, not a timer — three builders take a third as long.
Storage & haulingLiveHaulers route by role. A full store backs the chain up instead of leaking.
ResearchLiveFive technologies, each of which changes a number something actually reads.
Hunting & wildlifeLiveAnimals on the ground, and meat that does not keep.
The chronicleLiveThe game writes to you when — and only when — you could act on what it says.
Accounts, sign-in, resetLivePassword reset and Google sign-in both work. See below.
The public feedRepairingWritten and deployed, and currently broken by a database fault. See below.
Armies & warDesignedOne unit exists — the villager. The armoury is written and deliberately parked.
The far countryDesignedBiomes at distance, and the supply problem of reaching them.
Wildfolk & their requestsDesignedAlways a logistics problem, never a fetch errand.
Ruins, Seals, the EchoDesignedThe long horizon. Deliberately last, and written down early so the ruins in the ground today land somewhere that will matter.
Whether the world resetsUndecidedGenuinely open. The register explains the argument on both sides.
Portuguese (pt-BR)UndecidedThe glossary is written; whether the site launches bilingual is not settled.
Live means you can use it today. Designed means it is specified and not yet written. Undecided means exactly that.

Read this before you register

Password reset and email verification both work now. An earlier version of this page warned that they did not, and that warning outlived the problem — if you passed on an account because of it, it is fixed. Google sign-in is live as well.

Everything in the world right now will be deleted. Not as a season ending — as a development reset. What is running today is test ground, and none of it carries forward. When a real season opens it will be announced as one.

The public feed is broken as this is written, and it is our fault rather than yours. A migration dropped six tables from the cancelled science-fiction version of this game, and four database views were still quietly reading them. Nothing in the game itself is affected — but the live figures on this site, and the register on the History page, have been blank since. The repair is written and waiting to be applied.

Some of what Docs describes is not in the client yet. The table above is which. Docs describes the design deliberately, because the design is settled even where the code is not, and hiding it would make the site less useful rather than more honest.

What is next, in order

  1. Finish the chain. The economy has to be worth playing on its own before anything is built on top of it. That is the whole test, and it has not been passed yet.
  2. The war. Armies out of that economy, live and controllable — and standing orders, so being asleep costs you a plan rather than an army.
  3. The far country. Biomes at distance, and the supply problem of getting anything back from them.
  4. The world’s own life. Wildfolk villages, what they want, and rewards you cannot buy.
  5. The Old Work. Ruins worth opening, the Hollow Watch that keeps them, and eventually the Seals and the Echo.

Each one is only started when the one before it is good. A layer added early is a layer added to something nobody wanted to keep playing — and the order is chosen so that every step is playable the day it lands.

If something on this page is out of date, that is a bug in the page. The Dispatches are written as the work happens and are the more current record of the two.

The realm is open.

Registration founds a settlement on open ground, with a keep and enough timber to raise the first roof. Nothing else is asked of you: no faction to pick, no character to build, no tutorial. You land, and the ground decides what you can make of it.
